Indesign what is overprint preview
The problem here is overprint- I color printed over or subtracted from another. In this case the printer mistakenly thinks that the transparent space around the logo should be blended like an overlay or is a transparent white color.
If this occurs check that the space around your logo is truly transparent and not white. If it is transparent then either the file needs to be changed or document settings need to be changed. Check your transparency and blending mode options. See more options in the reference links at the bottom of this article. Notice that this logo is a circle. Instead of dropping the PNG file into the document as a square or rectangle, create a circle with the circle frame tool and place it where you want your logo.
Then drop the logo image in and resize it so that it fits the entire circle. Now the transparent part of the image object is no longer showing in your document reducing the chance of overprint errors. Luciano 7, 8 8 gold badges 29 29 silver badges 46 46 bronze badges. As you stated, creating another swatch and naming it Special Black , and setting it to 0,0,0, was the answer for me.
Thanks for your input, helped me out. I think this should be unchecked by default, but it's possible it got checked at some point. DLev DLev 1, 6 6 silver badges 9 9 bronze badges. Apply overprint settings to an image or object and add it to your library, or edit a placed file in its original application. Instead, you specify a CMYK stroke color that uses the higher value from the corresponding inks in each original color.
Make sure that you and your prepress service provider agree on when and how to overprint manually, because doing so will significantly affect trapping options specified in the Print dialog box. You can overprint strokes or fills, paragraph rules, and rules above footnotes.
You can also simulate overprinting of spot colors. You can overprint strokes or fills of any selected paths using the Attributes panel. Consult with your service provider about the exact percentages of color to add to the black. When using a stroke to trap objects but not text characters , adjust the stroke alignment so the stroke falls outside the path or object, rather than inside or centered on the path.
When using a stroke to trap two spot colors or a spot and a process color, you usually apply the lighter color to the stroke, and overprint the stroke.
Cyan bottom layer B. Magenta middle layer C. Yellow top layer. To overprint the fill of selected objects, or to overprint unstroked type, select Overprint Fill.
To overprint a color applied to the spaces in a dashed, dotted, or patterned line, select Overprint Gap. The Overprint Stroke and Overprint Gap options in the Paragraph Rules dialog box can be saved as part of a paragraph style. InDesign can automatically insert a rule to separate footnotes from the body of the document.
